Inaugurated in 2006, the Valles Plant exemplifies Cobega’s effort to minimize the environmental impact of our activity.
Energy efficiency has been a key element in the plant’s design. The large windows, the system of skylights and the automatic lighting system maximize the best use of the natural light and reduce artificial lighting costs, while the structure of photovoltaic panels heats the domestic water supply and high-voltage electric energy distribution reduces loss.
The use of natural gas in the plant and the use of a refrigerant, that do not affect the ozone in the installation of cold generation, contribute to lowering the facility’s environmental impact.
The treatment of waste waters and the biological connection are models of sustainability and preservation of the natural surroundings.
The disposal system with double phase, one anaerobic and the other aerobic, feed the artificial lagoon with purified water of excellent quality, minimizing the production of sludge and generating methane gas (biogas), which the disposal plant uses as energy.
The construction of the biological connector and the artificial lagoon improve the connectivity between the coastal mountains and the Besòs River and this way facilitates the exchange of live organisms at its pass through the Can Fenosa industrial park.
